News for Lucillian Photography…

Hello guys!

As promised I’m going to explain this confusing statement I made in my last post.

“important announcement! As of today I am almost out of storage space! I will probably not be posting here for a little while after today. I will explain in another post what this means more fully.”

~quote from this post

Getting a custom domain?

Well, as of sometime last year (?) I started this particular blog/website. I am now out of GB space. The free WordPress plan allows for 3 GB of storage space as you free planners know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am 93.3% out of those 3 GB. Bad news. Ugh. So what am I going to do? I will probably have to buy a plan to keep this going. But if I do so, I will be upgrading other things as well. This means I’ll get my own .com domain name and…I’ll be able to dump adds! Yayyyyy!

The other thing I’ll have access to is tons more themes and some design customization I wasn’t privy to before. ๐Ÿ˜€

That will be nice.

Only one problem. I’m technically pretty broke. So that brings me to part two of this announcement.

Hiatus of Necessity

You probably saw this coming. I have no storage space…so I won’t be posting. Easy enough. I really am very uncertain as to when I’ll be able to upgrade my plan. I want to do some research and find someone who’s snazzy at design to help me with the design of my future website. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, of I’m going to do this…I’m going all the way. I’ve never had to pay for my websites so I am going to figure out the most effective way to do this. I might just wait a while until I’m graduated and ready to start up a business at home. That might be sometime next year…

Basically—I will disappear from this blog unless I decide to do a post with just writing in it to update you. โค

In the meantime adios!

Vacation Photography, Part 1.

Hello, friends!

First off, I have not permanently vanished. I am still alive and kicking/breathing. But I have a mountain of vacation photos to share. Today is part one of the vacation pictures. All of this is photography stuffโ€ฆlifestyle is always on the Misty Mountain (except for right now as Iโ€™m on break there due to time ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

First off this photo that I took of a sweet young lady holding a rose. I used the gold side of my new reflector (I got it!!!!)…and after fixing the white balance in Photo Director…it made it look rose gold. I love the lighting look honestly. ๐Ÿ™‚

She looks like Belle (or beauty!).ย

The first thing I photographed on vacation was this soft orangish blue sunset. I have been waiting to photograph a sunset like this.

Oh, and here is the ‘after sunset’ photo for comparison. So much grain…but that’s okay. ๐Ÿ˜€

And then I went to the peony flowers (one of my favorite flowers.)…and took photos of them. I had to up the light just a pinch because it was somewhat dark. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thankfully, brightening a picture can be done easily in post processing.ย
And some cure little peony buds!

Then to the rose bushes!

And the day ended with a shot of the moon.

Not overly impressive…but this is how it looked.

p.s Don’t forget to tune in to Part 2!

Eva Marie// Newborn Session

It finally happened. Yay!

Eva Marie is about two weeks old now, and I finally got to take some pictures of her today. This really had me nervous, and I really started to feel my inexperience. This is such a new thing for me. I feel like I need to learn how to compose better. I really wish I wasn’t just self-taught. Sometimes I feel like a class would be a lovely thing. But some of these came out good, despite the troubles.

And true to my new resolution…only five pictures! But I hope you like them anyways.

Gallery Blog

Hey guys!

So, you know how I mentioned that this blog is running out of space? Well, my decision was made to only post my top 5-7 photos from ANY photo shoot. So what if I want to post more? Well, I just made a portfolio blog. ANOTHER blog? Yep. I already posted some new things on there so if you want to check it out you can do that here.

This is a photo I took a few weeks ago that I was going to post on a different post. But…I’m not doing that post anymore. And so I just decided to share this one, as it’s my favorite.

Happy Valentine’s Day, btw. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Originals VS. Edits

Being right where I am in photography, has landed me THUNK!…in the middle of the editing vs. no editing ‘debate’. Now, I think the majority of us know that ‘real’ photographers all edit to some extent. Been there- had my dreams shattered ๐Ÿ˜€

Instead of necessarily saying one or the other…I am going to do a fun little post on my cost-efficient style of editing and share some of my favorite shots before and after. I am pretty excited about this…so let’s get it done!

1. Sunbeams through the clouds.

(this is just a random nature shot…which I took through a moving car’s window. This isn’t a favorite exactly.)

2. Sweet little boy.

Maybe you are starting to get a feel for my style of editing. I prefer to go for less editing and more on-camera quality. But sometimes some things can just be popped with a well-polished edit. In case you’re wondering-I use Picasa 3. I have used many other free sites (picmonkey, fotor, gimp, etc.) and liked them alright but this one has worked so much better for me.

3. Sweet little boy’s sweet little sister. ๐Ÿ™‚

Isn’t she so adorable? The one thing that stands out the most to me in the ‘after’ is the color. It seems like it just pops a lot more. The thing that isn’t so nice is the enhancement of the orange tone. But one must make sacrifices. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

4. Get him, Sheriff!

5. Wild ‘Nightlock’.

Ahhh…I never really let anyone know that I was proud of this photo. But I am. Taken on my 50mm lens during the golden hour, and producing those giant circular bokehs ! I really am very happy with this photo. I even like the original (though, I must admit- the edit pops the bokehs much better!).

6. Golden hour B&W+bokehs galore.

Taken the same time as my ‘nightlock’ photo…during the golden hour. One thing I like to say about bokehs is the more golden the light is (or the more light there is) the more bokehs. Or if you have TOO much sun, you might get sun flare too ๐Ÿ˜€ . The before photo looks like it is flooded with light. The second looks like it still had that lovely light…but is higher in contrast.

7. Rainbow cedar.

There isn’t a huge amount of difference from the two photos I don’t think. But I still like the edit.

8. Falling snow.

And that’s a wrap. I hope you enjoyed this post.
