Vacation Photography, Part 4. {Finale!}

Here we are!

For the final post in this short series. This might end up being the longest…but I don’t know for sure. We were visiting some friends…this post has water, miniature ponies,ย azaleas, and swinging. Plus some more randomness.

At this moment I am digging texture photos…remember the brick? ๐Ÿ˜€

My bother got all wet in the creek and then wanted a photo with this miniature horse. My brother isn’t very tall, btw. ๐Ÿ˜€

Aren’t they cute?

I love this vertical shot!

This cracks me up! A nice size comparison. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh, and I forgot to mention the ducks!

And they were all happy…until my brother chased them. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Bro and sis on the swing. BTW, they aren’t concerned. They were laughing right after this shot was taken.ย

I got mom to pose for a picture. Happy Mother’s Day, btw. My only regret is the cup she’s holding. I was so eager, I overlooked it ๐Ÿ˜‰ . I do like the diverse background though.ย

Going home I shot pictures from the windows.

That’s a wrap, folks.

I hope you enjoyed this little four-part series. I could have added tons more than I did…but my memory is really getting small now.

Moody Feel+ An Explanation

Hello!

I have been gone from this blog for a week. This needs an explanation, right? Well maybe it doesn’tย need one. But I’ll give you one anyway. The update comes in the form of three key things.

  1. I am now using a really nice computer with a high resolution monitor. It’s so nice, and photos look amazing on it. ๐Ÿ˜€
  2. The old photo editor was deleted off the old computer. So I am learning to use Photo Director 3 (which comes free on windows). Photo Director 3 reminds me a lot of Lightroom. It’s WAY nicer than Picasa 3, and any of the other free things I’ve used. But because it’s more complicated, it’s taking longer to get the hang of.
  3. I am getting more and more restrictions. I now have way less time to post.

Due to these things…expect less posting. It might only end up being once a week or less.

That stuff said…I have been experimenting with Black and White photography. None of the following images received much (or for most of them, none) editing. I was going for a moody feeling in these images. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating them.

This is really my crown jewel selfie. I took this way late at night, with a bright lamp and no other lights. I underexposed to get the image dark. I also used high contrast in my manual picture style setting. The monochrome setting was used direct (I didn’t add it later). I had taken about three pictures when I realized that 1) My eyelashes looked WAY too light with the light directly on them. 2) I would have to remove a little of some poison ivy I had on the light side of my face.

So I put on some mascara and lipstick, then afterward used the retouch tool to remove an ittsy bit of poison ivy. I have had poison ivy for a little over a week now. But it’s mostly gone.

This is unedited.

This one is too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Then my sis Ellie jumped in for one. But she’s smiling. Happy’s a mood too, guys!
IMG_7235.JPG
And in this one, I let some of the poison ivy stay because it looks even more like the style This was this morning as well as the one of my sis. The hat ๐Ÿ˜€ .ย

Serious is a thing, people!

More Snow?

I am not at all kidding. More snow. At first I was excited…because we only got one small snowfall. But then, it turned out to be rather lame. Not much snow at all. Only around an inch. I still managed to get a few little photos from the snow, however. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Recognize this plant?

And my very favorite is of a hyacinth…

Did y’all get any ‘strange’ snow?

In an effort to both follow advice (that I read in a photography book) and also save my blog from having to go to a paid plan (I am already 50% done with my 3GB picture space and I’ve only been doing this blog less than a year!)– I am cutting my posts shorter. This will probably just mean I will share my five favorite photos from each shoot from now on. Plus, the ‘expert’ said it was better that way…ย ๐Ÿ™„ . But because this is a challenge post…you only get one!

This is the moment where you look at the colors in the image and give me a look: “You did a LOT of editing on this photo, didn’t you?” and I get to look triumphant and say: “No, actually. My camera has settings I can use in manual mode where I can boost the colors of my photo, including color tone and saturation.” . ๐Ÿ˜‰ I loved that fact as soon as I discovered it. I love the depth of field on this one. This plant is rosemary, btw. It’s already very silvery green. I took this photo whilst standing on a bucket. Well, the challenge is on! Will I remember to be regular with this challenge, or not? That remains to be seen!
